Oak cm. 180 x 135 x h. 70 Carlo De Carli One of the first furnishing items with an organic approach and an original Italian response to the figurative studies of Alvar Aalto, the oak writing table has a "butterfly" silhouette in the writing level between the sides, and a continuity of the double arched-bridge support structure with a support straddle for the table, linked by the transverses containing the drawers. The solid wood portals are formed by joining the sloping legs and the variable section transverses, through curving links without physical breaks and corners. The swelling of the joint elements, as well as recalling the union of joints in the human body or the branching of trees, takes on precise structural values. Its extreme lightness is also achieved by the variation in section of the downward-tapering supports, resembling the legs of gazelles or other swift animals. The table's design is also made slimmer by engraving running continuously along the whole length of the legs and supports. |
