In the interior design of Casa Ferrarin, Milan, a living-room which is a forerunner of functionalist solutions (high sliding curtains, dormeuse hanging from steel tubes), is flanked by a dining-room suite with more accentuated decorative aspects, composed of five items of furniture produced by the Paolo Lietti firm of Cantù: a table, two sideboards with a small raised part with an illuminated display case, a low sideboard and a further serving structure with small overlapping and removable tables. The geometric simplicity of the furnishing elements in solid oak, veneered in Macassar ebony, is joined by hinged slim profiles in alpaca and figurative inlay in ivory.
The large table situated in the centre of the big room is distinguished by its double portal lightened by a slim thickness and a profiling which is rounded inside. The top, sub-divided in fifteen panels by alpaca threads, has inlay featuring the aircraft flown in the first flights made by Colonel Arturo Ferrarin, with a lighter touch which offsets the commemorative effect, creating a playful modernity.
The original had a lengthening system on the short sides with the addition of two independent wooden panels resting on two removable tracks.
