Tomaso Buzzi
This sofa is part of a homogenous suite of furnishings designed in the late 1920s and it develops in an original manner the tradition of "lit d'anglais" and Roman triclinic systems.
The continuity between the base and curving arms, and the sharp detachment which together they maintain from the back of the winged profile, give the object considerable lightness, underlined by the undulating profile of the side legs.
The central legs crossing in a cornucopia (the horn of plenty), also present in various other furniture and objects by Buzzi, re-propose in miniature the form of similar support structures in Greco-Roman high-backed chairs and seats.
The side structure is in curved veneered wood, with a walnut foot, while frames and profiled supports are in solid walnut, the seat has a springs on thongs structure with upholstery in canvas and padding in cotton wool, the cushions are stuffed with duck's down.
