Leg in lathed, carved walnut, top plated with geometric pattern in two shades, table centre in briarwood.
cm 200 Ø x h. 83
The large antechamber on the first floor of Palazzo Borromeo has furnishings of the Neo-classical period, of which the octagonal walnut table in the centre of the room is outstanding. The nine octagonal legs in solid wood, eight corner ones and a central supporting leg, have typical carved grooves, while the top has mirror inlay and fillets in two alternating shades, converging at decreasing intervals towards the recherché briarwood centre.
The reconstruction, made possible by the direct model kindly authorised by the owners, faithfully reflects the shapes, size and construction technique of the original, and achieves the colour play on the top with traditional methods of bleaching and mordanting on mirror-coated walnut sheets.
